Ketamine Gave Me a Life
Denis is 70, a retired firefighter, resident of Prescott, and married to the love of his life for 40 years. Despite being very successful professionally and raising a family, Denis struggled with major depression and PTSD because of trauma his whole life. Denis tried many other treatments for mental health prior to considering ketamine including many medication trials, therapy, and even several inpatient hospitalizations. Denis describes, “I was working with my EMDR therapist, Tony, and I wasn’t getting anywhere. Tony has been training on using ketamine with therapy and shared some info from his classes. I was always afraid of hallucinogenics, because I didn’t want to have a bad trip. I started looking up ketamine clinics online and found WholeMind.”
Denis was surprised by his experience with IM ketamine combined with therapeutic integration. He related, “Ketamine is not what I thought. It was more intense, but very meaningful.” Denis also shared, “It was a spiritual experience. I was made to feel part of the essence of the universe in a vessel, and I was welcome to join that. I found myself laying down, completely at peace, and at peace with myself.” Denis continued, “I feel cleansed. All that crap I carried around my whole life is just gone. For years I didn’t feel emotions. I felt numb. Now I feel again, and feeling makes you feel alive. It’s a real joy.”
As ketamine treatment progressed Denis experienced changes in his relationships. He shared, “I’m speaking to my wife and children in a civil tone. I’m participating in their lives. My relationship with my wife is really coming together. I’m looking at her like we are 16 again!”
After completing 6 treatment sessions, Denis observed, “I’m doing more around the house. I’m participating in everything I can. I feel 10 years younger and 10x better. My energy has increased. Everything is better.”
In the future, Denis states, “I want to get out more. I want to explore with my wife like we used to. There’s so much to do in Arizona!” When asked what he would share with others considering ketamine treatment, Denis advised, “Follow through on it. Commit to it. It can be hard, but the rewards are more than worth it. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done for myself in my life, without a doubt. They say ketamine saves lives, but I would say ketamine gives lives because it gave me back my life.”
